The Presidential Election Petition Tribunal which is currently ruling on cases before it, has dismissed Labour Party (LP) and its presidential candidate, Peter Obi’s claim that President Bola Tinubu’s declaration as winner of the February 2023 polls is invalid because he failed to get 25 percent votes in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Peter Obi and LP had petitioned the court to nullify the 2023 election over President Tinubu’s failure to garner 25 per cent comes in the country’s capital.

In its judgement, the court said it is not a pre-requisite to winning the election as residents of the FCT do not enjoy special privileges.
