Abia State Government has launched a free medical insurance scheme for all commercial vehicle operators in the state.

The scheme, which is incorporated in the state’s newly unveiled digital tax system, is aimed at improving the welfare and health conditions of commercial vehicle operators, as well as to curb fraud and augment revenue in the state.

The Governor, Abia State, Alex Otti, who launched the scheme, praised the initiative as a breakthrough in the healthcare sector and urged commercial vehicle operators to take advantage of the scheme for their benefit.

According to him, the digital tax system will further enable the state to fuel entrepreneurial growth and progress within the state.

He said: “We envisage this digital platform to not only simplify tax compliance but also unlock substantial revenue for development projects, thereby strengthening our state’s economy.

“It offers easy payment options for both transporters and traders and promotes transparency, reflecting our steadfast commitment to facilitating business operations in Abia state.”
