Police arrest three as ‘hoodlums kill’ naval officer in Ondo community

A naval officer has reportedly been killed by suspected hoodlums in the Idoani community in Ose LGA of Ondo state.

The hoodlums were said to have attacked the officer after he had an argument with a commercial motorcyclist.

The late naval officer was said to have been rushed to a hospital in the town, where he was confirmed dead.

Some naval officers reportedly went in search of the killers, causing tension in the community.

Confirming the development to TheCable, Funmi Odunlami-Omisanya, the state police spokesperson, said the deceased was attacked by a six-man mob during an altercation.

“One Sunday, there was a minor accident involving a motorcyclist and pedestrian,” she said.

“It was reported that a navy personnel attached to navy secondary school Imeri by the name Akingbohun was attacked by a six-man mob due to an altercation that arose from the accident.

“The scene has been visited and the victim was taken to general hospital Idoani, where he was confirmed dead.

The police spokesperson said three of those who attacked the late naval officers have been arrested.

“We have three of the suspects already in custody while three are still at large.”
