Tragedy: 60-year-old Man Drowns in Abandoned Well

A tragic incident occurred in CBN Quarters, Hadejia Road, Kano, on Saturday as a 60-year-old man, Sabi’u Yusha’u Unguwa Uku, lost his life after falling into an abandoned well.

According to Saminu Yusif Abdullahi, the Public Relations Officer of the Kano State Fire Service, the victim was driving a car belonging to the first wife of the Minister of Defense.

While stepping out of the vehicle to relieve himself, he accidentally fell into the uncovered well, which was concealed by debris.

The State Fire Service swiftly responded to the emergency call and arrived at the scene within 15 minutes.

Despite their prompt action, the victim was recovered unconscious and later pronounced dead at Sir Sunusi Hospital.

The body has been handed over to the Dakata Police Division for further investigation.

This unfortunate incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers posed by abandoned wells and the importance of taking necessary precautions to prevent such tragedies.
