A man identified as Inusa Ibrahim has allegedly matcheted his mother on her left hand, leading to her death.
It was gathered that Inusa, who resides in Kpaduma II area of Asokoro, Abuja, was engaged in a fierce fight with his brother, Usman, when their mother, identified as Zainab Ibrahim, came to separate them.
Although the cause of the fight could not be ascertained, Inusa was said to have mistakenly matcheted his mother on her left hand, while attempting to separate them.
The incident happened on Saturday at the Kpaduma II area of Asokoro in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
A resident of Kpaduma II area of Asokoro, Saliu Shehu, who confirmed that the incident occurred on Saturday, said Zainab was rushed to a private hospital where she died.
“The two brothers are of the same parents. They were engaging in a serious fight. Their mother came in and tried to separate them. Inusa, however, left and went to bring a machete with which he intended to use on his brother. In the process, he mistakenly cut his mother on her left hand. She was taken to a private hospital where she died,” Shehu said.
Meanwhile, the spokesperson of the FCT Command of the Nigerian Police Force, Josephine Adeh, who confirmed the incident, said Inusa was currently at large as investigation on the matter is ongoing.
“We received a distress call and rushed to the scene. The mother was taken to the hospital where she was confirmed dead. Usman is in custody while Inusa is at large. An investigation is, however, ongoing on the matter,” Adeh said.
