The Administrator of Rivers State, Vice Admiral (Rtd) Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas, is scheduled to visit the State Secretariat on Monday, March 24, 2025.

This was disclosed in an official circular issued by the Head of the Civil Service, Dr. George C. Nwaeke, which was addressed to the Civil Service Commission, Permanent Secretaries, Auditors-General, and heads of various departments.

The circular states, “His Excellency… will be visiting the State Secretariat,” signaling an important engagement with the state’s workforce.

In preparation for the visit, all civil servants have been directed to be on duty on the specified date. The circular instructs, “You are requested to inform ALL your staff to be on duty on the said date,” emphasizing the necessity for full attendance.

Additionally, departments are required to present their Nominal Roll for verification, which suggests that the visitation may include a review of staff records and administrative processes.

The directive, issued from the Governor’s Office at the Rivers State Secretariat Complex, underscores the importance of compliance. The circular urges strict adherence, stating, “Please ensure strict compliance,” reinforcing the significance of the Administrator’s visit.

The planned visit comes amidst growing tensions following President Bola Tinubu’s declaration of emergency rule in Rivers State and the removal of Governor Siminalayi Fubara from office.

Ibas, who was appointed just days ago, has already asserted federal control over the oil-rich state, meeting with senior security officials and key state government operatives.

The Nigerian Senate and House of Representatives have endorsed Tinubu’s declaration, but opposition figures continue to decry the move as an unconstitutional takeover.
