Following the renewed hope agenda of the Federal Government (FG), the Speaker of the House of Reps, Abbas Tajudeen, has announced the inclusion of women and youth in governance through legislative intervention.
This was confirmed in a press statement by the social media adviser, Musa Abdullahi on Monday, in Abuja.
Abbas decided to incorporate pro-people legislation, sign language to foster inclusivity after the visit of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Representative, Ms Elsie Attafuah on Tuesday.
Abbas stated the need for UNDP to support and advocate gender equity related bills in the ongoing constitution alteration exercise.
“I urge the UNDP to do more to help publicise the issue of gender inclusion through organization of workshops and conferences which would involve stakeholders in the public and private sectors where gender equity issues are most relevant,” he said.
