NUC Approves Establishment Of Kogi State University, Kabba

The National Universities Commission (NUC) has issued a letter of recognition for the establishment of the Kogi State University,  making it the third state university in the State.

While issuing the letter to the Governor of the state, Yahaya Bello, on Monday in Abuja, Prof. Abubakar Adamu Rasheed, Executive Secretary of the NUC, used the occasion to annoumced that he is voluntarily leaving the NUC to continue teaching at Bayero University Kano, where he was appointed from.

Speaking on the university, he said that the commission had on June 19, received a letter on the formal presentation of gazetted documents establishing it.

He stated: “I write on behalf of the NUC to inform his excellency that with effect from June 26, 2023, Kogi State University, Kabba has been established as the 62nd state universities and 265th university in Nigeria.

“NUC pledges its support to the university as we urge you to take full advantage of the institution.

“By this, the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), National Youth Service Corp (NYSC) and the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) are being notified of the establishment of the university.”
