New Terrorism Challenge, Acting COAS in Sokoto, Calls for Agencies Collaboration

The Acting Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, embarked on an operational tour to Sokoto State on Sunday, November 10, 2024.

The AHF learnt that his visit aimed to assess the security situation in the region and boost the morale of troops fighting terrorism and insurgency.

During his tour, the Acting COAS visited Forward Operations Base Tangaza and 248 Battalion in Illela.

He received detailed briefings from the General Officer Commanding 8 Division, Brigadier General Ibikunle Ajose, on the current security challenges and ongoing operations.

Addressing the troops, General Oluyede commended their dedication and sacrifice in the face of adversity.

He assured them of the Army’s unwavering support and encouraged them to remain resolute in their efforts to neutralize threats to national security.

The Acting COAS also met with local leaders, including the Chairman of Tangaza Local Government Area, Honorable Bashir Salihu.

He emphasized the importance of collaboration between the military and the civilian population in combating insecurity.

He urged residents to provide timely and accurate information to security agencies to help in their operations.

General Oluyede’s visit underscores the Nigerian Army’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of the nation.

By boosting troop morale and fostering cooperation with local communities, the Army aims to effectively address the security challenges facing the North West region.
