National Security: Defence Minister Calls for Stronger Support for Nigeria’s Military

Minister of Defence, Badaru Abubakar, has urged Nigerians to offer robust support to the military in its ongoing efforts to address insecurity, saying that peace is a foundation for national development.

Speaking at the opening of the 45th International Trade Fair, organised by the Kano Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines, and Agriculture (KACCIMA), in Kano, Abubakar linked improving security to economic prosperity.

“The Nigerian military remains steadfast in protecting our nation, and I encourage every Nigerian to pray for our forces and maintain confidence in their efforts,” Abubakar said.

In a statement signed by the personal Assistant to the Minister on Media and Publicity, Mati Ali on Saturday, Abubakar reiterated President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to restoring peace, highlighting the pivotal role of security in driving economic growth.

The Defence Minister, a former National President and current Lifetime National Vice President of the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines, and Agriculture (NACCIMA), stated his deep ties to the business community.

He also underlined the importance of diversifying Nigeria’s economy through non-oil exports, stating that the ongoing improvements in security would open doors for greater trade and investment.

The trade fair, attended by dignitaries including Nigeria’s Vice President and the Governor of Kano State, serves as a crucial platform for fostering international business ties and promoting economic diversification. “This fair is not only vital for promoting commerce but also for strengthening Nigeria’s economic future,” Abubakar noted.
