NAFDAC Cracks Down on Unsanitary Water Production Facilities in Abuja

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has intensified its compliance operations in Abuja, uncovering alarming practices in the water production sector.

In a statement released to Africa Health Report (AHR) on Friday, NAFDAC announced the discovery of a facility in Gwarimpa involved in the production and distribution of unregistered sachet and table water under unhygienic conditions. The agency promptly destroyed all unapproved products found at the site.

Similarly, in Nyanya, several water production facilities were flagged for non-compliance. Compliance Directives were issued to these establishments, instructing them to rectify observed lapses before they can resume operations.

“Our mission is to safeguard public health. We urge citizens to report illegal activities or products to support our efforts in protecting consumers,” a NAFDAC official stated.

The agency reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that only safe and approved products reach consumers, emphasizing its determination to tackle illegal practices in the water production sector.
