In celebration of World Menstrual Hygiene Day, the Maden Healthcare Foundation (MHF) has rolled out a nationwide awareness campaign across secondary schools in Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones, aiming to educate adolescent girls on menstrual health and provide them with free sanitary materials.
The campaign, spearheaded by a team of health professionals and volunteers, focused on demystifying menstruation and addressing stigma surrounding menstrual hygiene. It featured interactive sessions, demonstrations on the proper use of sanitary pads, and the distribution of sanitary products to girls who have reached puberty.
“Menstrual hygiene is a basic human right,” the foundation stated during a school outreach. “Too many girls miss school simply because they lack access to sanitary products or adequate information on how to use them. This campaign is our effort to change that reality.”
MHF emphasized that the program goes beyond pad distribution. “We’re empowering these girls with confidence and education. That’s what truly creates lasting change,” the foundation noted.
The sensitization initiative is part of MHF’s broader commitment to advancing girls’ health and well-being, particularly in underserved and low-income communities across the country.
