Maritime Academy New Chairman Vows to Boost Education

Engr. (Chief) Kehinde Olayinka Akinola has been appointed Chairman of the Governing Council of the Maritime Academy of Nigeria. In his acceptance speech, Akinola expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the appointment and plans to boost maritime education.

In his acceptance speech, Akinola pledged to collaborate with council members, staff, and students to propel the academy to greater heights.

“I look forward to collaborating with you as a team to propel this Academy to greater heights. Together, we will foster excellence in maritime education, research and innovation.”, he stated.

He outlined key focus areas, including enhancing academic quality, infrastructure development, industry partnerships, capacity building, and entrepreneurial initiatives.

The new chairman also emphasized the establishment of an an innovation centre to promote research in maritime robotics, autonomous systems, and sustainable ship designs.

“We will work tirelessly to position the Maritime Academy of Nigeria as a leading institution, producing competent professionals who drive Nigeria’s maritime sector and contribute to the nation’s economic growth,” Akinola said.
