Controversial media personality Kemi Olunloyo has ignited a wave of reactions following a series of emotionally charged revelations about her late father, Dr. Victor Omololu Olunloyo, the former Governor of Oyo State, who died on Sunday, April 6, at the age of 89.
In several videos posted on her TikTok account, Kemi made it clear she would not be accepting condolences, stating she has severed ties with the Olunloyo family. “I am NOT part of the Olunloyo family anymore,” she wrote on Facebook. “I told you that in 2024—that I will never return to Nigeria even if my parents died.”
While she acknowledged having forgiven her father, she offered a stark and unflattering portrait of the late statesman. “My father, Victor Omololu Olunloyo, is two different people. He was one person to the world; he was another person to the family,” she said.
Kemi alleged that her father, a respected mathematician and politician, inflicted lasting emotional and psychological trauma on his children. “My father tortured us as kids—emotionally and physically. He marketed me as his favourite daughter to the world, but that was far from the truth. He used me, took advantage of my positive energy,” she stated.
She further claimed that the late Governor had deep involvement in occult practices, which she openly confronted during his 80th birthday celebration. “My father was into ‘juju’ heavily,” she alleged. “After that, he went to Pastor E.A. Adeboye and got born again.”
Kemi also revisited the family’s tragic history, including the life and death of her late brother, Tayo. According to her, Tayo’s life was derailed after surviving the 1978 “Ali Must Go” student protest car crash, which left him with brain damage and seizures. “They killed Tayo. He would have been a great mathematician… His destiny was ruined,” she lamented.
She attributed much of the family’s breakdown to her father’s relationship with Aderonke Omololu Olunloyo (formerly Ronke Sonaike), a former campaign aide who later became his wife. Kemi alleged the union created deep divisions. “My mother married an intellectual who later became a polygamist. Not that polygamists are not good, but the way it happened to my family destroyed us,” she said.
Despite the deeply personal nature of her revelations, Kemi acknowledged the complexity of her father’s legacy, urging the public not to direct condolences her way. “You don’t know what’s going on in my family, and I don’t know what’s going on in yours,” she said. “If you want to condole with my father or his family, go to Facebook.com/omololuolunloyo.”
Dr. Victor Omololu Olunloyo was widely regarded as a brilliant academic and political figure in Nigeria’s history, with a legacy that continues to evoke both admiration and controversy.
