The Katsina State Government has declared Monday, July 14, 2025, a work-free day in honour of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari, who died on Sunday in London at the age of 83.
This was announced in a statement by the Secretary to the State Government, Abdullahi Garba Faskari, on Sunday evening.
According to the statement, Governor Dikko Umaru Radda approved the holiday to allow residents mourn Buhari’s passing and offer prayers for his soul.
“The Governor of Katsina State… has declared Monday… as a work-free day in the State,” the statement read. “This follows the demise of Nigeria’s former President, Muhammadu Buhari… who died earlier this evening in London.”
Radda described Buhari as “a great leader, a hero, a true democrat and a patriotic elder statesman.”
He extended condolences to Buhari’s family, the people of Katsina, and the nation. Burial details will be announced later.
