The Kaduna State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has announced the seizure of 1,458,709 kilogrammes of illicit drugs in December.

In a press statement signed by its Press Officer, Shuaibu Omale, on Tuesday, NDLEA said the seized illicit drugs included cocaine, heroin, cannabis, tramadol, methamphetamine, and various other psychotropic substances.

It also noted that the agency arrested 103 individuals including drug traffickers, drug dealers and users within the month.

Omale explained that “it is paramount to note that 26 illicit drug joints were also dismantled, while the command secured six convictions and arraigned 24 suspects in December 2023.”

Going further, he highlighted the broader efforts of the command, including numerous sensitisation programmes conducted across the state to educate the public on the detrimental effects associated with drug use and illicit trafficking.
