The Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) has issued a warning about the emergence of a new sect identified as ACHAD Life Mission International, which is reportedly gaining traction both within and outside the country.
According to a statement signed by the Principal Staff Officer to the Comptroller General of Immigration, Dr. A.A. Aridegbe and sighted by our correspondent on Sunday, intelligence reports revealed that the sect has its headquarters in Kaduna, while its leader, Mr. Yokana, resides in Jos, Plateau State.
In a statement dated 14th January 2025, the sect is described as neither aligned with Islam nor Christianity but rather focuses on advocating for the restoration of African traditions and promoting humanitarian causes.
However, intelligence gathered by the Service raises concerns about the group’s activities, which allegedly include human trafficking and child separation and warns that the sect has been actively recruiting members across Nigeria and abroad, prompting authorities to urge heightened vigilance.
“In light of the above, you are requested to stay vigilant and report immediately any sign of the sect, and where possible, arrest and revert accordingly,” the memo instructed.
While calling on the public to cooperate by reporting any suspicious activities linked to this group, NIS emphasized the importance of swift action to curb the activities of the group, which could pose a threat to societal stability and security.
