FG Upgrades Mubi General Hospital to Federal Medical Centre

In a significant step towards enhancing healthcare delivery, the Federal Government and the Adamawa State Government have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to convert Mubi General Hospital and Cottage Hospital Hong into Federal Medical Centres (FMCs).

The MoU was signed during a formal ceremony attended by key government officials recently, marking a major milestone in the collaboration between the two governments to improve healthcare infrastructure in the state.

The Honourable Coordinating Minister for Health & Social Welfare, Professor Ali Pate, represented by the Permanent Secretary, Daju Kachollom mni, expressed that the agreement was part of a deliberate effort by the Federal Ministry of Health & Social Welfare to expand and improve healthcare services across Nigeria,

in line with the renewed hope agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

According to Professor Pate, the upgrade of these hospitals is crucial for strengthening health services, particularly in the northeastern region of Nigeria, and will also benefit neighbouring countries.

“This upgrade is not just for the people of Mubi and Hong but will extend benefits across the entire North East and our neighbouring countries,” said Professor Pate.

He emphasized that the conversion of these facilities into Federal Medical Centres will play a key role in ensuring the provision of high-quality and safe healthcare services for all Nigerians.

The Deputy Governor of Adamawa State, Professor Kaletapwa Farauta, who chaired the MoU signing, commended the Federal Government for its vision in upgrading the health facilities.

She noted that the initiative is strategic for improving the quality of healthcare available to the people of Adamawa State, aligning with the priorities of Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri’s administration. She also reaffirmed the state’s commitment to supporting the institutions to ensure their success.

“I believe this MoU will significantly benefit the health sector in Adamawa State,” said Professor Farauta. “Governor Fintiri remains dedicated to ensuring the state’s healthcare institutions thrive and provide top-notch services to the people.”

The State Commissioner for Health and Human Services, Chief Felix Tangwami, also expressed gratitude to the Federal Ministry of Health & Social Welfare for its efforts to enhance healthcare provision in the state.

He acknowledged that the upgrade would contribute to the ongoing development of the state’s healthcare system and improve health outcomes for residents.

The agreement signifies a promising future for healthcare in Adamawa State, reinforcing the government’s commitment to improving health infrastructure and ensuring that Nigerians have access to quality healthcare services close to home.
