FG Deploys Police in Abuja Ahead of October 1

Ahead of the 64th Independence Day celebrations, the Federal Capital Territory Police Command has announced a strategic deployment of personnel and equipment throughout Abuja.

“Our goal is to ensure a safe and enjoyable celebration for all residents,” stated SP Josephine Adeh, the FCT Police Public Relations Officer in a statement on Monday.

The deployment will include Explosive Ordinance Disposal (EOD) teams, anti-riot equipment, and enhanced visibility policing. “We are committed to maintaining peace during this festive occasion,” Adeh added.

Traffic diversions will be implemented in key areas, particularly the Central Area and Eagle Square, to manage expected crowds.

Residents are urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the FCT Police emergency lines: 08032003913, 08028940883, 08061581938, 07057337653, PCB: 09022222352, and CRU: 08107314192.

The police emphasise the importance of community cooperation in ensuring a hitch-free celebration.
