The Kano State Police Command has reiterated the ban on all forms of Durbar activities during the 2025 Eid-el-Kabir celebrations, citing security threats and intelligence reports of plots to disrupt public peace.

In a statement on Tuesday, the Command, alongside other security agencies, congratulated Muslims in the state, urging peaceful celebration and vigilance. It stressed that the ban, first imposed during the 2025 Eid-el-Fitr, remains active due to persistent threats.

“Acting on credible intelligence, we have enforced a total ban on all forms of Durbar activities statewide,” the statement said. It warned that miscreants and their sponsors planned to hijack the festival to incite unrest.

To ensure safety, the police outlined key guidelines: prohibition of horse or animal riding (Kilisa), car racing, reckless driving, and public display of firearms or dangerous objects. The Command emphasized zero tolerance for any action that could lead to disorder.

Parents were urged to caution their children against being used by disruptive elements, warning that security agencies are prepared to enforce the law strictly.

“Residents must avoid any conduct likely to breach peace or law and order,” the Command added.

The statement also called for prayers for Kano State, Nigeria, and for the families of athletes who died returning from the National Sports Festival.

The Command assured the public of adequate security deployment across strategic locations and urged full cooperation with law enforcement for a safe Eid celebration.
