The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has announced its intention to hold an online auction for vehicles that have been forfeited to the Federal Government. This auction is set for Monday, January 27, 2025, and will occur from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm, managed by auctioneers selected by the EFCC.
In a statement posted on its official X account, on Monday The General Public is informed that the @officialEFCC, via its designated Auctioneers, will hold an e-Auction for the vehicles listed below, which are under final Forfeiture orders. The agency has assured Nigerians that the auction will be conducted transparently and equitably.
the EFCC highlighted its dedication to transparency and adherence to applicable laws, such as the EFCC (Establishment) Act of 2004, the Public Procurement Act of 2007, and the Proceeds of Crime (Recovery and Management) Act of 2022.
The vehicles, which are stored in various locations across Nigeria, will be auctioned by eight appointed auctioneers. Each auctioneer is responsible for specific lots of vehicles, with bidding to start at or above the reserve price.
Auction Details and Conditions
The EFCC highlighted that winning bidders would have 72 hours to make full payment via Remita after winning their bid, with a mandatory 7.5% VAT applied to the final price. Successful bidders will receive a Release Note upon confirmation of payment to collect their vehicles.
“The vehicles will be sold on an ‘As is’ and ‘Where is’ basis,” the statement added, emphasizing that the vehicles would remain at their current locations and conditions.
Notably, the auction is open to the general public but excludes EFCC staff and anyone directly involved in the forfeiture process. The Commission also retains the right to withdraw any vehicle from the auction at any time.
