The Delta State Police Command has paraded suspected armed robbers, kidnappers, drug dealers, and other criminals arrested in Ughelli, Sapele, Ekpan, Warri, and its environs.

According to the State’s Commissioner of Police, Olufemi Abaniwonda, the Command is committed to ensuring that Deltans can sleep with their eyes closed, especially as the yuletide season approaches.

The arrests were made possible through intensive intelligence gathering on a syndicate that specializes in kidnapping, armed robbery, car snatching, and defrauding victims’ bank accounts via SIM swap.

On November 18, operatives of the CP – Special Assignment Team (CP – SAT) arrested a notorious gang member, 41-year-old Godstime Ajugba, who led them to their hideout where various weapons and ammunition were recovered.

In another operation, the surveillance team of Ekpan Division arrested a 31-year-old suspect, Eto, with a black bag containing 57 live cartridges.

Eto’s confession led to the arrest of another suspect, Sunny, and the recovery of more weapons and ammunition.

Unfortunately, the two suspects were fatally wounded during a shootout with other gang members and later died in the hospital.

The Police Commissioner has assured that a manhunt for the fleeing suspects is ongoing.
