To address poverty and improve humanitarian initiatives, , the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Professor Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda has urged for united efforts to bolster Sustainable Economic Development (SED) in Nigeria.
During a courtesy visit by a group of leaders from Nigeria’s National Disability Civil Rights Movement and former APC appointees from Plateau State on Tuesday in Abuja, the Minister highlighted that social inclusion and development (SED) is crucial for addressing the nation’s humanitarian issues.
Yilwatda emphasized that he cannot accomplish it on his own, but by working together, they can attain significant outcomes. He encouraged Nigerians to share their ideas for sustainable solutions.
“Trust me, Sustainable Economic Development is the sole solution to humanitarian issues in Nigeria,” asserted Yilwatda,”
Emphasizing the difficulties faced by the Ministry, Yilwatda announced that numerous programs are stalled because of ongoing issues. He committed to revitalizing these initiatives to better support Nigerians, particularly People with Disabilities (PWDs), in line with President Tinubu’s instruction to make government policies more humane.
The Minister also revealed a national Sustainable Plan Training set to take place in the first quarter of 2025, focusing on vital sectors like energy, agriculture, and transportation throughout Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones.
The visit was spearheaded by Hon. Felicia Yakzum, who congratulated Yilwatda on his new position and commended his established commitment to public service. Job Napoleon, the organizer of the National Disability Civil Rights Movement, expressed a desire to collaborate with the Ministry, highlighting the compatibility between their initiatives and the Ministry’s objectives.
