A cholera outbreak has claimed the lives of 24 individuals in Kebbi State, with 875 cases reported across 10 local government areas.
The Director of Public Health, Abubakar Bagudu Muhammad, confirmed that 13 of these deaths occurred in Suru Local Government Area.
The outbreak has been linked to poor environmental sanitation, flooding, lack of access to clean water, and open defecation.
The State Ministry of Health is actively responding to the crisis by training clinical personnel to manage future outbreaks.
The government has committed significant resources to combat the epidemic, and has also received support from international organizations like the World Health Organization (WHO), SAN Frontier, and UNICEF.
