Students of the Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai, Niger State, on Monday staged a protest over worsening insecurity in the town following the killing of one of their colleagues by suspected bandits.
AHR gathered that the student was shot dead at an off-campus residence by gunmen believed to be terrorists.
The incident has sparked outrage among the student community, who are demanding urgent action from security agencies and the state government to safeguard their lives and properties.
As of the time of filing this report, security operatives had been deployed to the area to prevent further escalation.
