Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia has expressed his frustration, stating, “The so-called Abuja politicians are the ones sponsoring and supporting these bandits.”
Governor Alia who disclosed this in a statement while reviewing the activities of bandits in Ukum, Katsina-Ala, and Logo LGAs, which constitute the Sankera axis, highlighted his efforts to bring peace to the region, offering education and skills training to bandits willing to leave the bushes.
He lamented the violence within the bandit groups, saying, “Unfortunately, those who were inclined to come out were attacked and caught in fights for superiority within the bushes.”
Alia pointed fingers at local politicians for exacerbating the situation, stating, “It’s the homegrown bandits who are killing their people and preventing them from going to the farm. The so-called Abuja politicians are the ones sponsoring and supporting these bandits.”
The governor’s accusations shed light on the complex dynamics at play in Benue State, where political interests intertwine with security challenges, leading to further instability in the region.
