The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has clarified the controversy over the ban on Sachet Alcohol and Codeine Syrup.
The Director-General of NAFDAC, Prof. Mojisola Christianah Adeyeye on Wednesday clared the air on the ban in a Zoom press conference.
Africa Health Report (AHR), reports that the ban on 200ml Sachet and PET bottle alcohol took effect on February 1, 2024.
The DG clarifies further that following a meeting held on June 13th with her and House Committee on Food and Drug Administration that discussion on the ban of Sachet Alcohol is still being held and will resume after their recess in July. while codeine syrup was placed on ban since May 1, 2018 by then- Minister of Health, Isaac Folorunsho Adewole which is still very effective and any report suggesting otherwise is inaccurate and false.
