The Defence Headquarters Abuja has just released its weekly report, revealing significant successes in the ongoing military operations across Nigeria.
The military dealt deadly blows to numerous terrorists and other criminal elements that have been wreaking havoc on the country. This milestone marks a decisive step towards restoring peace and security in Nigeria.
According to Defense Headquarters weekly recent report, the military has neutralized hundreds of terrorists, rescued hostages, and recovered substantial caches of weapons and ammunition.
The operations, conducted under various military campaigns such as Operation Hadin Kai, have targeted the leadership and chain of command of terrorist groups, insurgents, and extremists.
In a major blow to terrorist operations in the northeast, troops of Operation HADIN KAI have recorded significant successes, neutralizing 103 terrorists, arresting 64 suspects, and rescuing 15 hostages. Troops also recovered arms and ammunition.
The military operation also yielded a substantial cache of weapons and ammunition, including rifles, guns, pistols, and thousands of rounds of ammo, as well as other items like motorcycles and mobile phones, further crippling the capabilities of extremist groups in the region.
In the report, North Central, Operation Safe Haven neutralized 14 violent extremists, arrested 25 persons, and rescued 26 kidnapped hostages.
Operation Whirl Stroke also recorded successes, neutralizing 4 terrorists, arresting 27 violent extremists, and rescuing 14 kidnapped hostages.
Also in the North West, Operation Hadarin Daji coordinated through the superior fire power of the military, 51 terrorists were neutralized 55 were arrested, while 81 kidnapped hostages were rescued.
Troops of Operation WHIRL PUNCH have arrested suspected violent extremists and terrorists in Niger, Kogi, and Kaduna States. The operation targeted Borgu, Tafa, Lokoja, and Chikun Local Government Areas, disrupting extremist activities.
In another blow to oil thieves, troops of Operation DELTA SAFE recovered over 1.9 million litres of stolen crude oil and illegally refined petroleum products in the Niger Delta region.
According to General Buba, the operation resulted in the seizure of 1,090,135 litres of stolen crude oil and 873,510 litres of illegally refined Automated Gas Oil (AGO).
Troops also destroyed 49 illegal crude oil cooking ovens, 11 dugout pits, and 98 refining sites, disrupting the illicit oil trade in the region.
Other items recovered include speedboats, pumping machines, outboard engines, motorcycles, and vehicles, further crippling the operations of oil thieves.
The military’s crackdown on oil theft is part of efforts to curb economic sabotage and ensure security in the Niger Delta region.
In another significant development, Operation UDO KA has wrapped up a successful week, neutralizing 15 terrorists, apprehending 20 violent extremists, and freeing 8 kidnapped hostages.
The operation yielded a substantial haul of firearms and explosives, including rifles, pistols, shotguns, and improvised explosive devices.
The recovered items, totaling one G3 rifle, 14 pump action guns, and various other weapons, were handed over to relevant authorities, along with the arrested suspects and rescued hostages, for further investigation and prosecution.
This milestone marks a decisive blow to extremist groups in the region, reinforcing the military’s commitment to restoring peace and security across Nigeria.
