Access Bank Appoints Independent Director

Access Bank has announced the appointment of Uche Orji as an Independent Non-Executive Director, effective January 7, 2025.

According to a statement made available to Africa Health Report, AHR on Saturday by the company’s secretary, Sunday Ekwochi, the move, approved by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), is part of the bank’s ongoing efforts to bolster governance and board diversity.

Orji, a seasoned investment banking professional, brings over 30 years of expertise in finance, technology, and infrastructure. He is the Co-founder and Partner of Titangate Capital Management, an equity firm specializing in deep-tech and AI ventures.

He also serves as the Founder of Vitesse Africa, an investment advisory firm focusing on African energy and tech sectors.

Commenting on Orji’s appointment, Access Bank Chairman, Paul Usoro said, “Mr. Orji’s appointment stems from his extensive professional and academic background. His wealth of experience will significantly enhance our board’s decision-making and strategic direction as we continue to pursue our vision.”

Orji has held leadership roles at major financial institutions, including Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority, UBS Securities, JP Morgan Securities, and Goldman Sachs. His appointment aligns with Access Bank’s commitment to upholding corporate governance standards and its ambition to become one of Africa’s top five banks.
