The Jigawa State Government has launched a significant initiative to address the alarmingly high rate of out-of-school children in the state.
According to UNICEF data, a staggering 83.2% of children in Jigawa are not enrolled in school, leaving them vulnerable to exploitation and limiting their future opportunities.
Alhaji Aminu Usman, the State Acting Governor, announced the implementation of the Accelerating Basic Education and Livelihood Opportunities for Children and Youth in North West Nigeria Program (ABEP).
This program aligns with the government’s commitment to reducing the number of out-of-school children and ensuring access to quality education for all.
Tobi Ransomed, the team lead for Consortium in Jigawa State, highlighted that ABEP will be implemented in twelve local government areas across Kano, Jigawa, and Sokoto states.
The program aims to empower the most marginalized groups, including women, girls, and youth, by providing them with education and livelihood opportunities.
By taking decisive action and partnering with organizations like UNICEF, SCI, and Plan, the Jigawa State Government is working towards a brighter future for its children, ensuring that they have the chance to reach their full potential.
Zamfara State government in partnership with IMPACT PROJECT are set to renovate 147 Primary Healthcare Centers PHCs across the state’s 14 local government areas of the state
The state’s Commissioner for Health, Dr Aisha M. Anka announced this during the closing ceremony of the Bidding Summit and Opening in Gusau.
In a statement by the Information Officer for the Ministry, Sulaiman Isah says the Commissioner was represented by Alhaji Aminu Kaura, Director of Planning, Research, and Statistics of the Ministry, explained that the project is divided into three categories.
She said phase 1 is 62 primary health care, phase 2, 51 PHCs, and phase 3, 34 PHCs.
The commissioner assured that; the Ministry would carefully evaluate the submitted bids to select contractors who meet the specified criteria.
She emphasized the importance of transparency and fairness in the procurement process.
Solomon, representing O and S Millionaire Investment, commended the Ministry for conducting a transparent and equitable bidding process.
Mallam Isah Maharazu of M.G Nigeria Limited echoed this sentiment, urging the state government to maintain the level of transparency in future procurement activities.
The contracts would cover the renovation of 147 PHCs, upgrading and equipping the facilities, and renovating staff quarters.
