No fewer than four Tiv farmers have been killed and several others injured in renewed herders’ attacks in the southern senatorial district of Nasarawa State.

President of the Tiv Youth Organisation, Isaiah Audu, who addressed journalists on Monday in Lafia, said the violence affected communities in Doma, Keana, and Obi Local Government Areas.

“We gather today with heavy hearts to condemn the recent spate of violent attacks on innocent Tiv farmers by armed herders,” Audu said. “These senseless and brutal killings have left families traumatised, communities shattered, and a palpable sense of fear gripping our rural populace.”

He alleged that the attacks were a ploy to grab Tiv lands for grazing, adding, “Over 3,000 Tiv indigenes have been displaced.”

Victims named included Terfa Tswabee, Sham Kyodo, Zaki Kwaghtagher Ordue, and Teryem Aondo Apav.

Audu said the displaced persons were spread across IDP camps in Kadarko, Agyaragu, Kpata, and Idadu.

When contacted, State Police Commissioner Shetima Mohammed told PUNCH, “I am in a meeting with the governor. I will speak with you later.”
