197 Pupils Receive Lessons on Floor as Infrastructure Decay Hits Delta School

No fewer than 197 pupils at Ughievwen Primary School in Ughelli South LGA, Delta State, are forced to sit on the bare floor during classes, highlighting serious infrastructural challenges in the oil-rich community.

A report by Monitng, a civic technology platform focused on public accountability, detailed these conditions in a post on X on Friday.

Residents are calling on Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s administration for urgent intervention.

Monitng wrote, “We urge the Delta State Government to kindly intervene.” The lack of proper seating not only disrupts the learning experience but also threatens the safety and well-being of the students.

“This situation has created an environment that is not conducive to learning,” the report stated.
