Kano Govt Reviews Malnutrition Response at Unguwa Uku PHC

KANO, Nigeria – The Kano State Ministry of Health has assessed services for malnourished children at the Unguwa Uku Primary Healthcare Centre (PHC), Tarauni LGA, pledging stronger investment in community health.

The visit, led by Director of Public Health, Dr. Ibrahim Aliyu Gano, on behalf of Health Commissioner Dr. Abubakar Labaran Yusuf, highlighted the government’s ₦1 billion investment in Ready-to-Use Therapeutic Food (RUTF) distributed free to malnourished children.

Dr. Gano praised PHC head Hajiya Aisha Ahmad Usman for her dedication and thanked Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), represented by Dr. Hemmed Lukonge, for ongoing support.

“The welfare of our children is a top priority. Together with our partners, we are determined to reduce malnutrition and secure a healthier future,” he said.

The Ministry reaffirmed commitment to strengthening PHCs so that every child, regardless of background, has access to essential nutrition and healthcare services.
