Amid the ongoing nationwide warning strike by the National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives (NANNM), members of the Hospital Friends Association in Katsina have stepped in to provide first aid and humanitarian support to stranded patients.
The state chairman of the association, Alhaji Bilya Sanda Khadimul Islam, in a statement on Thursday, urged members across all 34 LGAs to intensify their assistance efforts.
“This support is necessary at this critical time. Our goal is to ensure patients are not left helpless during the strike,” he said.
The statement, signed by the association’s PRO, Hamisu Adamu Gamarali, said volunteers from groups like Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI), JIBWIS, Red Cross, Hisbah, and Muazzamatul Fityanul Islam have already begun support operations at General Hospital Katsina and other facilities.
“We have mobilized all available resources to aid patients,” Gamarali added.
Sanda assured that food, water, and logistics had been provided to volunteers, reaffirming the association’s commitment to compassion and service during this healthcare crisis.
“We will continue to stand by our people in times of need,” he said.
