US U-Turns, Offers Continued Support for Nigeria’s Disease Response

The United States Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has pledged continued collaboration with Nigerian health agencies to tackle infectious disease outbreaks.

In a statement, on Friday, the CDC said: “Whether it’s Lassa fever, cholera, diphtheria, yellow fever, or meningitis, we continue to work with Nigerian public health experts and agencies to help the country prevent, detect, and respond to infectious disease outbreaks.”

The agency added that by strengthening health systems in Nigeria, it is also safeguarding global health. “By building health capacity in one country, we are protecting the health of all,” it said.
