Hussaini Kafi in Kano
The Federal Government has on Wednesday officially commissioned the Digital Industrial Park (DIP) in Kano, marking a major leap in Nigeria’s grassroots digital transformation efforts.
Led by the Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani, the commissioning comes after the facility was vandalized during the August 1, 2024, nationwide protest.
Restored through the support of IHS Towers, the park is now set to drive innovation, job creation, and tech-based development in Northern Nigeria.
“This project is for the people of Kano and Nigeria at large,” Dr. Tijani said. “Kano is ripe for digital transformation. The energy, talent, and hunger for opportunity here are unmatched.”
Mr. Kazeem Oladepo, representing IHS Towers, reaffirmed the company’s commitment: “We are ready to deepen our collaboration with the state government to ensure inclusive digital growth.”
In appreciation, the Kano State Government conferred Dr. Tijani with the honorary title Sarkin Yakin Digitalization, recognizing his pioneering role in advancing digital progress in the region.
