The Edo State Primary Healthcare Development Agency (EDSPHCDA) and its health partners have met with critical stakeholders ahead of the National Immunization Plus Days (NIPDs) campaign slated for June 28 to July 3, 2025.
The meeting, held at the John Odigie Oyegun Public Service Academy (JOOPSA) in Benin City, brought together health actors and support groups to fine-tune plans for full polio vaccination coverage across the state’s three senatorial districts.
Mrs. Adesuwa Omorere, speaking for the Director of Community and Family Health, Dr. Idemudia Osayomore, emphasised the campaign’s importance, saying, “We must protect our children from the debilitating effects of poliomyelitis and ensure that no child is left unvaccinated.”
The session, moderated by Mr. Jerry Osawe of the National Primary Healthcare Development Agency (NPHCDA), urged community leaders, religious groups, and the media to boost awareness and participation.
UNICEF’s Social and Behaviour Change Consultant, Mr. Yakubu Solomon, added that plans were already underway for a Measles-Rubella vaccination campaign in January 2026. “Early engagement with communities is crucial for success,” he said.
Representatives from WHO, UNICEF, civil society, religious institutions, security agencies, and MDAs pledged to support Edo State’s push to eradicate vaccine-preventable diseases.
