NEMA Sensitises Edo Residents on Tanker Fire Prevention

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) Benin Operations Office has carried out a sensitisation campaign in Edo State to tackle the risk of tanker fire incidents.

According to a statement released by NEMA on their X (formerly known as Twitter) platform on Monday.

The awareness drive brought together key stakeholders including the Ministry of Public Security and Safety, NURTW, NSCDC, FRSC, NOA, Red Cross, Edo SEMA, and NEMA/NYSC Emergency Vanguards.

Speaking at the event, Head of NEMA’s Benin Office, Mr Kenoma Ojuederie, called for strict safety compliance by tanker operators and urged continuous public awareness on fire prevention.

The programme featured expert talks from the Federal Fire Service and FRSC, alongside a community sensitisation outreach in Ologbo, along the Benin–Sapele expressway.

NEMA reaffirmed its commitment to disaster risk reduction through collaboration, public education, and community engagement.
