In a renewed effort to apprehend inmates who recently escaped from the Medium Custodial Centre in Ilesha, Osun State, the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) has announced a N5 million cash reward for any member of the public who provides actionable information leading to their recapture.
The development was confirmed in a statement released on Wednesday, by the Deputy Controller of Corrections and Public Relations Officer of the NCoS, Umar Abubakar.
He stressed that the reward aims to encourage greater public collaboration in ongoing search efforts.
“We are appealing to the conscience of patriotic Nigerians to assist security agencies with any useful information that could lead to the re-arrest of the fleeing inmates,” Abubakar stated. “A reward of five million naira awaits anyone whose information results in the successful recapture of the escapees.”
He further assured that all reports will be treated with “utmost confidentiality and anonymity.”
