As part of efforts to bolster healthcare delivery in Lagos State, the First Lady, Dr Claudiana Sanwo-Olu, presented professional kits—comprising scrubs and crocs—to nurses and midwives under the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), led by Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu.
Speaking at the presentation held in Lagos on Tuesday, Sanwo-Olu, who doubles as the Lagos State Coordinator for RHI, praised Tinubu’s “visionary leadership and steadfast commitment to improving maternal and child health outcomes nationwide.”
The event also had in attendance the wife of the Deputy Governor, Mrs Oluremi Hamzat, and top officials from the Ministry of Health.
The kits were distributed through the Lagos State Primary Health Care Board (LSPHCB), following a similar regional rollout in Akure, Ondo State, where 10,000 sets were shared across the South West.
Sanwo-Olu stressed that the initiative goes beyond material support, saying, “This presentation is more than a distribution of kits; it is a message that we acknowledge your dedication, celebrate your service and stand with you in delivering quality healthcare.”
She described the nurses and midwives as “pillars of strength,” and added, “Your service goes beyond duty, is a calling.”
Mrs Hamzat also commended the Renewed Hope Initiative for its transformative impact, highlighting the critical role of properly equipped healthcare workers.
“Equipping healthcare workers with essential tools is key to enhancing maternal and child health,” she noted. Sanwo-Olu reaffirmed the government’s ongoing commitment to frontline workers, assuring continued support and recognition for their vital roles in the state’s healthcare system.
