The Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) has announced the postponement of its screening test for applicants to the 77 Regular Course, citing the recent decision by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) to reschedule the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) in some parts of the country.

This was contained in an official statement on Thursday by Major Mohammed Maidawa, Public Relations Officer of the NDA,   which was made available to The AHR in Abuja.

The statement quoted him stating that the new date for the test will be communicated in due course

According to the statement, the screening test, which was initially scheduled for Saturday, May 24, 2025, will no longer hold on the planned date.

“This decision is consequent upon the NDA’s respect for equal opportunity and to avoid disenfranchisement of any candidate,” the statement read.

The NDA emphasized its commitment to fairness and the integrity of the admissions process. “We remain dedicated to upholding the integrity of the admissions process and ensuring that each candidate is given a fair opportunity,” Maidawa noted.

The institution urged applicants and members of the public to stay updated by following the NDA’s official social media platforms and regularly visiting the Academy’s portal.

The rescheduling of the UTME by JAMB follows reported technical issues and disruptions in certain locations during the initial examination period, prompting the board to mandate a rewrite for affected candidates.

The NDA’s move to postpone its screening test is seen as a gesture of fairness to ensure that no qualified applicant is left behind due to the overlap of national examinations.

The Nigerian Defence Academy remains one of the country’s most prestigious military institutions, responsible for training officers for the Nigerian Armed Forces.

The 77 Regular Course is one of its flagship programs, attracting thousands of applicants annually.

Further announcements are expected in the coming weeks regarding the new date for the screening test.
