Man Jailed for Stealing 4 Toilet Seats in Jos

An Area Court in Jos sentenced Idris Bello to one year imprisonment on Tuesday for stealing four toilet seats, three aluminium window frames, and electrical cables from a building.

The Judge, Mrs. Shawomi Bokkos, sentenced the convict after he pleaded guilty to the offences.

The judge, however, gave the convict the option of paying a N30,000 fine and restitution of N100,000 to the complainant.

She said that if the convict defaulted in payment of the restitution, a further six months should be added to his term of imprisonment.

Earlier, Police Prosecutor, Inspector Ijuptil Daniel, told the court that the case was reported at the Angwan Rogo police station on February 22, by Mr. Nazif Mohamed.

He said that the complainant reported the convict of trespassing into his house and stealing three toilet seats, three windows and the entire electrical cables of the building.

The offence, the prosecutor said, contravened the Plateau State Penal Code Law of Northern Nigeria. (NAN)
