The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced the release of the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) results, with 39,834 candidates’ results withheld for further scrutiny.
According to JAMB Registrar Prof. Ishaq Oloyede during a press briefing in Abuja on Friday, the board verified 1,957,000 candidates for the exam, with 71,705 absent. He noted that 1,426 results are under processing, while 96 were withheld due to examination malpractice, down from 123 last year.
Oloyede highlighted new trends in infractions, including identity and biometric fraud involving 3,656 candidates with extraneous fingerprints. He identified implicated CBT centres, such as Tigh Technologies Limited in Abuja, and said 80 suspects are under police interrogation. The board also withheld results of 244 candidates involved in “WhatsApp runs” for subscribing to rogue groups.
The registrar addressed underage candidates, noting that of 41,027 registered, only 467 met the “exceptionally gifted” criteria, with one disqualified for malpractice. JAMB’s Equal Opportunity Group examined 501 candidates with disabilities, though one was implicated in impersonation. Four substandard CBT centres, including Adventure Associate in Kano, were delisted for technical deficiencies.
Oloyede reaffirmed JAMB’s zero-tolerance policy on malpractice and hailed the 2025 UTME as highly successful.
