Tinubu Pumps ₦4.5tn into 2025 Budget Boost

President Bola Tinubu has given Nigeria’s 2025 budget a significant boost, increasing the proposal from ₦49.7 trillion to a whopping ₦54.2 trillion, fuelled by fresh revenue streams.

The budget adjustment was delivered to both the Senate and the House of Representatives via separate letters, which were read aloud by Senate President Godswill Akpabio during a plenary session in Abuja on Wednesday.

The new proposal highlights an extra ₦1.4 trillion from the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), ₦1.2 trillion from Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), and ₦1.8 trillion from other government agencies.

Following the announcement, Senate President, Akpabio swiftly referred the matter to the Senate Appropriations Committee for prompt review, assuring lawmakers that the budget would be finalised and passed before the end of February.
