The Kebbi Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) marked the International Customs Day (ICD) 2025 with a grand event held at its premises in Birnin Kebbi.

The celebration, themed “Customs Delivering on its Commitment to Efficiency, Security, and Prosperity,” brought together dignitaries, including retired senior officers, representatives of sister agencies, stakeholders, and members of the trading community.

The Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Iheanacho Ernest Ojike, delivered an insightful lecture on the event’s theme, highlighting the Command’s commitment to excellence through policy implementation.

He noted that the successes recorded under his administration were driven by the policy thrusts of the Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR, which emphasize consolidation, innovation, and collaboration.

Comptroller Ojike also discussed key reforms and advanced techniques adopted to align with global best practices, such as advance ruling, data analytics, and the Authorized Economic Operator program.

These initiatives, he said, have significantly enhanced efficiency, security, and economic prosperity.

The special guest of honor, retired Deputy Comptroller General of Customs (DCG) Aminu Abubakar Dangaladima, commended the unwavering dedication of customs officers in facilitating international trade.

He also acknowledged the invaluable support of stakeholders, sister agencies, transporters, and other government bodies in achieving the Service’s goals.

In his remarks, retired Comptroller Hussaini Suleiman Kangiwa, PhD, emphasized the importance of leveraging Information and Communication Technology (ICT), fostering stronger collaboration with sister agencies, and conducting meaningful research to enhance the enforcement of government fiscal policies.

To foster camaraderie and appreciation, the Command distributed souvenirs to attendees, symbolizing its commitment to inter-agency cooperation and stakeholder engagement.

The event served as a platform to celebrate the achievements of the NCS and its partners while reinforcing its pledge to efficiency, security, and economic growth.
