The Nigerian Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction has dismissed the prevalent claim about a Federal Government initiative offering a N50,000 Child Support Grant to Nigerian parents, labelling it as false.
In a statement issued on Saturday in Abuja, the ministry’s Director of Information, Rhoda Iliya, cautioned Nigerians to remain vigilant, labelling the circulating information as a scam aimed at taking advantage of unsuspecting individuals.
“This is a social media scam, and the ministry has labelled it as false information,” Iliya said.
She stated that such a program does not exist and emphasized that the ministry would conduct proper public awareness efforts if it decided to launch any similar initiative.
Iliya warned, “We are unfamiliar with this registration portal. Nigerians need to be cautious and avoid falling prey to scammers on social media.”
She also encouraged everyone to inform their family and friends about the scam, saying, “Be sure to let your loved ones know not to apply.”
