In observance of World Mental Health Day, the Nigerian Federal Ministry of Health has urged for greater attention to be paid to mental health in the workplace, stressing the importance of a safe and healthy environment for all employees’ well-being.
The ministry conveyed its message through its official X (formerly Twitter) account on Thursday, highlighting the detrimental effects of workplace discrimination and harassment.
According to the ministry’s these issues can lead to significant mental health problems, such as burnout, anxiety, and depression.
“Discrimination, and exposure to risks such as harassment, can have a devastating impact on mental health,” “These challenges not only affect individual well-being but also reduce overall work efficiency and productivity.”
The ministry also called for the creation of inclusive and supportive work environments free from harassment and discrimination. It emphasized that prioritizing mental health can help build stronger, more resilient teams, contributing to a brighter and healthier future for all.
