Minister of Education’s Phone Hacked, Public Urged to Ignore Messages

The phone line of Nigeria’s Minister of Education, Prof. Tahir Mamman, has been compromised, prompting a public warning.

In a Thursday post on his official X account, Mamman stated, “My phone line has been compromised. Please refrain from calling the number and ignore any messages requesting assistance until the issue is resolved.”

The Ministry of Education also confirmed the breach on Friday in a statement issued by the Director of Press and Public Relations, Boriowo Folasade, noted that unauthorised individuals are using the minister’s WhatsApp number.

“We deeply regret any inconvenience this may cause and urge everyone to disregard any message of request received from the said number until further notice,” she said.

The ministry has reported the incident to the relevant authorities, and an investigation is underway. Folasade added, “We advise all members of the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity.”
