The Minister of State for Education, Dr. Yusuf Tanko Sununu, has initiated the construction of seven state offices to support the National Examinations Council (NECO).
These new state offices will be established in Abia, Jigawa, Lagos, Rivers, Sokoto, and Taraba States.
Speaking at the ceremony on Friday in Lafia, Nasarawa State, Sununu emphasized the significance of these projects in ensuring a brighter future for Nigerian children.
He praised NECO Registrar for upholding the principle of Federal Character by distributing the state offices evenly across the six geopolitical zones.
Highlighting the importance of education in national development and poverty alleviation, the Minister assured NECO that the construction of these state offices would be completed promptly to create a conducive work environment for NECO staff. Stating, “conducive working environment is essential for nurturing ideas and enhancing job efficiency.”
NECO Registrar, Prof. Wushishi, expressed confidence that these new offices would set a standard of excellence in examination administration in Nigeria.
He attributed the project to the Federal Government’s commitment to infrastructural development in the educational sector, underscoring the government’s dedication to providing NECO with the necessary resources to fulfill its mandate effectively.
