The World Health Organization (WHO), along with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and other partners, has introduced a global dashboard on child health to aid national policymakers in guiding health programs, policy development, and evaluation.
The updated Child Health and Well-being Dashboard aims to provide data-driven insights to support efforts to improve maternal and child health and survival.
A publication made available on the WHO’s website on Saturday, stated that currently, 4.9 million children under 5 years old die annually, with a significant number within their first month of life.
To address this, countries have committed to accelerating actions to enhance maternal and child health and meet Sustainable Development Goal targets.
The dashboard focuses on key domains such as survival, development, protection, participation, and contextual and policy indicators.
The dashboard includes data from 196 countries and territories, offering insights into factors influencing children’s health globally.
It highlights areas needing attention, such as maternity protections, essential for supporting women and babies during pregnancy and post-birth.
The dashboard’s updated version features the latest data, downloadable datasets, and a user-friendly interface, catering to the needs of policymakers, academics, and civil society stakeholders.
